Brief analysis of the working principle and structure of steel bar bending machine

Rebar bending machines are essential equipment for rebar processing, primarily used to bend rebar in various construction projects. Often used in conjunction with a cutting machine, they are widely used. With the effectiveness of national investment, particularly with the development of high-speed rail, the production and sales of rebar bending machines have grown rapidly. Similar to other rebar cutting machines, hoop bending machines, and straightening and cutting machines, a production base for this type of machinery has been established in Changge City, Henan Province. While domestically produced products generally meet demand, some fall short of national standards. The current state of rebar bending machine production and quality in Changge, Henan, reflects the current state of domestic rebar bending machines.

The rapid development of my country’s construction machinery industry in recent years is due to the fact that, on the one hand, China has introduced advanced foreign technology to improve its product quality and the low domestic labor cost. On the other hand, the country’s implementation of active fiscal policies for many consecutive years is the fundamental driving force for the growth of the industry.

Rebar bending machines from various manufacturers share a similar structure. They feature two transmission schemes: “one- or two-stage gears plus a worm gear drive” and “one- or three-stage gears.” Worm gear-driven rebar bending machines are less efficient than gear-driven machines. In other words, given the same drive motor power, a gear-driven bending machine is more efficient at bending rebar of the same diameter. However, the self-locking nature of the worm gear drive allows for greater positioning accuracy during bending. Currently, bending machines with one- or two-stage gears plus a worm gear drive are the most common, enjoying a high market share.

At present, the structure and production process of mechanical transmission steel bar bending machines are very mature. The quality differences of products from different manufacturers are mainly reflected in the following points:

1) The shape and materials of the chassis vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. A steel bar bending machine with too little material will have poor overall rigidity and lack aesthetic appeal.

2) Only a small number of manufacturers pay attention to the surface quality of the working disc and other accessories, and carry out coating treatment on the working disc and other accessories, and seal each plug hole with a rubber sleeve.

3) Some rebar bending machine manufacturers use non-standard motors. These motors have low output power and tend to overheat during continuous operation, making them unable to bend rebar of the specified diameter.

4) The gears, worm gears, etc. of the transmission system have differences in processing quality, material selection, heat treatment process, etc.

5) A large number of manufacturers do not pay attention to the quality of the exterior coating of their bending machines. A small number of manufacturers use plastic spraying, and the visual effect is good.
