What made the national small-scale construction machinery industry base settle in Changge?
Rapid rise
According to Changge Vice Mayor Li Zhijun, Changge’s construction machinery industry originated with the Yellow River Abrasives Factory, the predecessor of the Yellow River Industrial Group Co., Ltd. In the early 1980s, the Yellow River Abrasives Factory began producing terrazzo machines, grinding wheels, grinding blocks, rebar cutters, and profile cutters. The factory established sales and distribution offices nationwide, employing a marketing team of over 500 people, laying the foundation for the development of Changge’s construction machinery industry.
In 1998, in response to the Asian financial crisis, China began increasing infrastructure investment and promoting the commercialization of housing. Many technicians and marketers at the Yellow River Abrasives Factory leveraged their acquired technology and market insights to form partnerships or independently establish construction machinery processing and supporting enterprises. It is understood that Changge City’s construction machinery industry currently has more than 300 manufacturing companies, with an annual production and sales of 2.6 million units, of which steel bar processing machinery accounts for more than 60% of the national market share, and small road processing machinery accounts for more than 50% of the national market share.
At the awarding ceremony, Changge City Mayor Shi Benlin stated that after more than a decade of development, Changge construction machinery has developed into a leading industry with a solid industrial foundation, a complete industrial system, a wide range of influence, a large number of employees, and strong local characteristics, showing four prominent characteristics:
1. There are many enterprise groups, rooted in every corner of urban and rural areas, relying on social and private capital for development, starting from family workshops and growing from small to large, with flexible management mechanisms and huge development vitality.
2. We have a full range of products, mainly steel bar machinery industrey, forming a relatively complete small-scale construction machinery product system; we have strong new product development capabilities and quick market response, and can quickly meet customers’ product distribution requirements.
3. The industrial chain is complete and there are many supporting enterprises. It has the second largest steel market in the country and the third largest agricultural machinery parts market in the country. There are a large number of mechanical processing companies such as Benma and Hongzhou, and many casting, processing, accessories, tires and other processing and supporting manufacturers.
4. The sales network covers urban and rural areas, and the sales staff are spread across the country.
